Anna Spangler Nelson

Chairman, Spangler Companies, Inc.; Member, UNC Board of Governors

Anna Spangler Nelson has served as chairman of Spangler Companies, Inc., a private investment firm, since 2005.  Nelson serves on the boards of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, C. D. Spangler Foundation, Read Charlotte, and myFutureNC.  She is also a member of the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina, where she serves as chair of the Educational Planning and Programs Committee.  Prior board service includes Fidelity Charitable, Novant Health, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ Project L.I.F.T.  Nelson graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Economics from Wellesley College, and with an MBA from Harvard University.
