Chancellor of Vanderbilt University

Nicholas S. Zeppos has been Vanderbilt chancellor since 2008. Prior to that, he served as faculty member, provost and vice chancellor for more than 25 years. As provost and vice chancellor, he chaired Vanderbilt’s budgeting and capital planning council and led all fundraising and alumni relations efforts across the university, in addition to overseeing the dean of students and dean of admissions.

Zeppos joined the Vanderbilt community in 1987 as an assistant professor of law, where he has been recognized with five teaching awards. He received his B.A. and law degree from the University of Wisconsin. He recently served as president of the Southeastern Conference and as co-chair of the United States Senate-appointed Task Force on Government Regulation of Higher Education.
