Coordinator for Policy and Special Projects

Peyton Barish is a Master of Public Policy graduate of Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy and letterwinner as a member of the track and cross-country teams at NC State as an undergraduate. In addition to his efforts as a college athlete, Barish collaborated with other NC State athletes in founding a racial equity non-profit organization. His experiences further shaped his interest in collegiate athletics and the many exciting changes happening across the landscape.

While at Duke, Barish worked with the Knight Commission as a Policy Fellow, focusing on financial and policy analysis and LEAD1 as a contributor to a case study determining the effects minimum wage employment would have on Football Bowl Subdivision institutions. His master’s thesis analyzed the impacts of conference realignment for Atlantic Coast Conference college athletes, focusing on new academic and travel burdens. These issues stimulate Barish because of the effects of such issues on the future of college athletics and the possibility that college athletes will gain increased autonomy and empowerment.

An avid runner, Barish serves as a coach for a local high school cross-country team.
